Valentine Fun!

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day! The kids have been counting down the days since they noticed it coming up on our Lenten Calendar... It is going to be a fun day! Rascal's godmother is hosting a party for more than thirty kids a few families at her home! After the party we will be picking up a couple heart shape pizza's for dinner at home. My kids are so excited!!!

Last week I took the easy way out let the kids pick out boxes of Valentine cards to give to their friends. So, today they worked on signing them.

My three oldest finished theirs all by themselves... And, my shy little Twinkle Toes, had a few extra and insisted on sending one to her Godmother! "Because, I really like her!" (It will be on its way shortly, Trina!)

The kids will be decorating cupcakes at the party tomorrow... But we decided to make some extras (tonight) to give as gifts, to a few neighbors and elderly homebound friends, on our way to the party. So, after dinner and baths, I surprised the kids with a couple more "Chef hats & aprons" from Pampered Chef (they are currently on clearance) and we set to work.

Captain, recently studied recipe measurements in his Saxon math, so I asked him and Rascal to get out the rest of the ingredients, and figure out how much of each was needed.

They set right to work making the batter.

The girls helped with the mixing.

Everyone was excited when our heart shaped cupcakes were ready to go into the oven.

Snuggles sat in his highchair enjoying watching the whole process.

At this point, it was way past bedtime, and so I told the kids (since the cupcakes would need to cool) that they would be able to decorate them in the morning, while I read to them the story of St. Valentine.

It's all ready, and I'm soooo excited to use my new cute little heart dish!

Also, I didn't get completely out of making Valentine cards this year... We decided to make one for Jesus and a few to go along with these cupcakes. We used the idea provided in A Year With God. It is such a great way to use the pictures off of those beautiful Christmas cards we were given!

We still need to write on them, but here are a few pictures of the first one:

I hope you all have a very happy Valentine's Day, and that you are surrounded by loved ones!

"A new commandment I give unto you: That you love one another, as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one for another." -- John 13:34-35
