A Child's Comparison

The other day we were watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Afterwards, Captain turned to hubby and said:

"Dad, the Grinch is like Barack Obama, and we are like the Whos'!"

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

The Grinch had been caught by this tiny Who daughter
Who'd got out of bed for a cold cup of water.
She stared at the Grinch and said, "Santy Claus, why,
"Why are you taking our Christmas tree? WHY?"

But, you know, that old Grinch was so smart and so slick.
He thought up a lie, he thought it up quick!
"Why, my sweet little tot," the fake Santy Claus lied,
"There's a light on this tree that won't light on one side."

"So I'm taking it home to my workshop, my dear.
I'll fix it up there. Then I'll bring it back here."
And his fib fooled the child. Then he patted her head
and he got her a drink and he sent her to bed.

And when Cindy-Lou Who went to bed with her cup,
He went to the chimney and stuffed the tree up!
Then the last thing he took was the log for their fire!
Then he went up the chimney, himself, the old liar.
On their walls he left nothing but hooks and some wire.

And the one speck of food that he left in the house
was a crumb that was even too small for a mouse.
Then He did the same thing to the other Whos' houses.
Leaving crumbs much too small For the other Whos' mouses!

Yes, Captain, and we need to pray hard for our next president. Hopefully his heart will "grow three-sizes" and he will not do some of the things he has promised.

  7. Captain is quite perceptive! At least some people (including 8 year olds) aren't fooled by his promises.

  8. Children are very pure, less polluted and able to see more clearly. God uses these moments with children, doesn't He? They remind us of how clearly we should see. He reminds us that only those with a trusting heart like a child's, a pure heart, are not far from the gates of heaven.

  11. Your son has great wisdom!

My sil has encouraged me by saying, "just think of him like President Saul"... in other words, if God could turn Saul into St. Paul, he can do ANYTHING.

  14. Meme~ Yes, that is a new family picture. It was taken while we were trying to get one for our Christmas Cards, though it isn't the one we choose. =)
