Lenten Adventure

I never did get a chance to sign up for the Holy Heroes Lenten Adventure, but since we had previously signed up for their Advent Adventure, we are getting the emails. My boys were so excited when I pulled up the videos and printed out the activities for this week!

There is no charge to join and, once you sign up, you will receive three emails a week (on Monday, Wednesday and Friday) linking you to videos, activities, and printable resources throughout the season of Lent. In the last email, they said, "As Lent progresses, additional types of learning activities for children of all ages will be added, such as coloring pages, crosswords, word searches, fun quizzes, prayers, songs, and more."

I know this has been posted on various blogs already, but I thought I would share it too, just in case any of you haven't heard of it yet.

Can I ask for a post request? I'd love to hear how you fit it all in. If you are doing the lapbook and the Lenten Adventure, what do your school days look like in Lent? Plus the Garden of the Good shepherd, calendar and Jesus Tree; just a detailed account will do;)

  3. Your so funny Erin! The quick answer is some days I DON'T fit it all in, though I always seem to try to! lol!! =)

For a quick example, yesterday I read my children the story of the Presentation and then we hung the symbol on our Jesus Tree (about 10 min), next my boys worked on their lapbooks for awhile, while my girls colored the picture of the Presentation.

We do our Lenten Calendar in the morning right before breakfast. We pray for the intention of the day, add an item from the pantry to the box and count whatever it is that needs to be counted (sometimes this happens in the afternoon instead).

The Garden of the Good Shepherd won't start until after Lent, so it will basically take the place of what we are doing during Lent.

I don't know if we will get to very much of this Lenten Adventure or not, but it will be nice to have the option for days we can!

And yes, I had seen that download (I'm signed up for the weekly email from Currclick which gives a free product each week) but I didn't download it since I thought I had plenty to do for Lent already -- but then, here I am telling you all about the Lenten Adventure! ;)

I hope that helps? Although it does seem like a lot, it really doesn't take much time to fit it in... That is, once it's all ready to go.

  4. Looking back at what I wrote, I should have said MOST days instead of some days! ;)

I keep telling myself that someday I'll be able to keep up with everything I want to do, but I think that is only going to happen once I stop planning so much! =)

  8. Whoops trying again.

I'm heading into town tomorrow to buy the felt background and felt to make a Jesus tree. Do you think 1 meter of each is sufficient or would you recommend more?
I'm planning that this tree and background (purple) can do double duty for Advent too.

  9. A Meter should be perfect... I just measured mine and it is 29" (Width) by 38" (Height).

  10. My dd LOVES Advent/Lenten Adventures! She's almost 3 so it's the closest to schooling she's received. She mainly listens to the video and then does the coloring page with me. I look forward to being able to do even more with her as the years pass. Also St. Therese is close to my heart so I love seeing her face whenever I read your blog! God Bless!
