Celebrating the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel

Here are a few pictures from today...

Steamed Caramel Milk which we named Mount Carmel Steamers
We are loving our new Cocoa-Latte Maker!
I served the cake with more Mount Caramel steamers since my children were saying that "Daddy needs to try them too!" -- this time topped with a "Mount" of whipped cream -- and homemade coconut milk ice cream with caramel sauce.)

We read this story and talked about the Brown Scapular.
(Here is a link to one of my old posts with more information on the scapular: The Brown Scapular - Garment of Grace.)

Coloring pictures from here and from Fenestrae Fidei

They mounted their pictures onto colored paper and the boys plan to copy the following prayer to add to their notebooks:
Flos Carmeli

This is the prayer of St. Simon Stock, to whom the Scapular devotion with its promise was given. It has for seven centuries been called a prayer to the Blessed Mother which has never been known to fail in obtaining her powerful help.

O beautiful Flower of Carmel, most fruitful Vine,
Splendor of Heaven, holy and singular, who
brought forth the Son of God, still ever remaining
a Pure Virgin, assist me in this necessity.

O Star of the Sea, help and protect me!
Show me that thou art my Mother.

O Mary, Conceived without sin,
Pray for us who have recourse to thee!

Mother and Ornament of Carmel, Pray for us!
Virgin, Flower of Carmel, Pray for us!
Patroness of all who wear the Scapular, Pray for us!
Hope of all who die wearing the Scapular, Pray for us!
St. Joseph, Friend of the Sacred Heart, Pray for us!
St. Joseph, Chaste Spouse of Mary, Pray for us!
St. Joseph, Our Patron, Pray for us!
O sweet Heart of Mary, be my Salvation!

Here are a few of the finished coloring pages:

I hope you all had a very blessed feast
of Our Lady of Mount Carmel!

Hi Jessica!

Thanks for posting the (literal!) feasting and festivities of yesterday. I'm very happy that you posted the prayer of St. Simon, Flos Carmeli. Yesterday, we sang this very hymn in Gregorian Chant in front of the Blessed Sacrament at our Oratory. It was so beautiful, I though you might like to hear it. . . the Carmelite monks in WY sing it with such devotion. Enjoy!

Thank you everyone! And Thank you Mary for the link!!

Teresa ~ Yes, I did decorate the cake. =) I think having painted all the little saints has really helped me improve with cake decorating... Last year I was too afraid to ever try!

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me.

Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven.

Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son.

Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family.

Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven.

Amen.
